A compromise?

Alright, I was making the disguise proficiency, and it got me to thinking: Disguise is a good charisma skill. Persuasion is not.

Basically, I don't like charisma when it can substitute for roleplay. However, I have nothing wrong with a charisma skill that can enable you to perform, disguise, do ventriloquism, or help you lead soldiers. Those, let's call them 'passive', charisma skills. -The things you don't roleplay. If we could have exclusively 'passive' charisma skills, I wouldn't be as adverse to include charisma.

In that case, you don't run into the "good roleplayer with no skill vs. bad roleplayer with skill" problem.

But I still don't like Charisma checks.

Can you Champions of Charisma give me more good skills like disguise?
