Wisdom is dumb.
I wish I could just make a Cha check to convince you that Cha isn't necessary.
Paul, I got rid of wisdom for the same reason. How do you play an 18 wisdom? As for intelligence, there can be little doubt that brilliant people can make stupid decisions. In the extreme, you could play an idiot savant. Like Cha, I think Wis should be left to roleplaying. BTW, I chose to call it intellect, instead of intelligence, because I think 'intelligence' often means 'wisdom' in common usage.
Alright, I know this is coming prior to a durth of "Why Cha is good" reasons from Rob, but hear me out.
Keeping an open mind, honestly, ask yourselves this: What if we played a campaign where we didn't have charisma scores or skills. Could we do it? Would the campaign be worse off for it? Could you not play a foul ugly drunkard? Could you not play a smooth-talking bard?
Or, how about this: What was Jimmy Swill's charisma? Dane's? Morgan's? Slaths? There is no way to know, huh? I know Dane had a big strength, Slath a high IQ, Swill a high dex... (We only know Morgan had a high wisdom because he was a priest, not because of his actions) For charisma, what really mattered was the roleplaying. -We could just as well done without it.
